3-4 weeks fun facts:
-
Prior to this period, mom had to stimulate the puppies to use the bathroom. During this period, they develop the ability to urinate and defecate without mom's help.
-
Our puppies continue to be weighed daily to ensure they are getting all the nutrition they need for growth and development.
-
They start to walk around 18-21 days, but will take a little practice to be fully stable.
-
At birth, they are born with no teeth. Between 3 and 4 weeks, their little baby teeth ("milk teeth") begin to come in and should be fully developed around 8 weeks.
-
They begin a "socialization process" because now they can see, hear and walk.
-
They start to become less dependent on mom and their little personalities start to show.

Birth to 2 weeks fun facts:
-
This is sometimes referred to as the "sleepyhead" phase. They sleep most of the time and depend on mom for food and care.
-
Our puppies are weighed daily to ensure they are getting all the nutrition they need for growth and development.
-
They are only able to slowly crawl around because they cannot support their weight. The paddling and pushing around with the legs is a way for them to build strength.
-
Puppies at this age are unable to regulate their temperature, so they use their siblings and mom as well as a warm up area we have set up for them.
-
At birth, they are born with the senses of touch and taste.
-
They start opening their eyes around 2 weeks or 10-16 days old. However, they are unable to see very clearly at first. Their eyes will gradually open wider and have full clear vision around 8 weeks.
-
Their ears open up around the same time as the eyes do & their hearing continues to develop until around 5 weeks old when hearing should be at 100%.
