Meet the Parents

See our Fur Babies' Rooms

We believe in having our sweet fur babies in the home with us.  My amazing husband built these wonderful areas for Dax, Millie, and Bella that I affectionally call their pet condos. :)  This allows them to have their own space to sleep in and for the moms to whelp.

PUPPY CARE PACKAGE

To help your new pup feel cozy & bright, will send some treasures to start things right.

A blanket that smells like their sweet mom’s scent, to calm little hearts and help them to feel content.

Pee pads for puddles—they’re learning, you see, patience and love are the best recipe!

Travel water dish, clipped on with care, for tidy adventures when you’re out somewhere.

Poo bags and a holder too — for when your pup goes on a walk-time poo!

Some food they’ve been munching—familiar delight, to keep little tummies feeling right.

A few tasty treats (because who can resist?) & a toy to bring joy with a wiggle and twist.

We wish you sweet moments and cuddles galore, with your new

furry friend you’ll truly adore!

How to Prepare for a Puppy

Items you may consider purchasing for your new puppy:

  • Toys - these are important for mental stimulation.  Chew toys, plush toys, balls.

  • Puppy Pee Pads or Grass Pads especially if they are full-time in the house.

  • Adjustable Collar/Harness & Leash ~  your puppy will grow significantly in the months to come so getting an adjustable collar will allow for this growth

  • Dog Tags ~ with your pup’s name and contact details

  • Dog Bed ~ best to get one that is washable

  • Grooming Supplies ~ brush, dog shampoo, toothbrush & toothpaste

  • Food and Water bowls ~ avoid plastic as puppies sometimes see that as a toy to chew on. Stainless steel or ceramic are the best options.

  • Dog Food ~ it is best to keep them on the food they were given at the breeder until you meet with your Vet. If you and your Vet decide to change their food, you will do so gradually so it does not upset their sensitive tiny tummy.

  • Crate or area for your puppy to sleep and/or be safe when you are not able to be with him/her.

Before Bringing Puppy Home:

Just like with babies, you want to puppy-proof your house or the area of the house your pup will be in as they will want to investigate everything & they often use their mouth to explore new areas.

  • Are your house plants toxic to dogs?

  • Electrical cords should be out of reach

  • Put breakable items up high

  • Keep kid’s toys away from the puppy as they may confuse it as their own

  • Is there a safe area outside for them to play?

  • Household chemicals, cleaning products and medications should be out of reach of your dog.

Things to consider when selecting a Veterinarian & planning for your puppy:

  • Location of the Vet is something to consider as you do not want to travel long distances for routine visits and you would want to get their asap in the event of an emergency.

  • Experience in your specific dog’s breed is important.

  • Services offered are something you would want to look into ~ dental care, nutrition counseling, spay & neuter surgeries, general surgeries, boarding, etc.

  • Set up your first appointment within a couple days of adoption.

  • Discuss options for hearworm, flea and tick prevention

  • Discuss options for microchipping

  • Discuss your puppy’s vaccination schedule

  • Get a “clean bill of health”

Determine a place for your pup to sleep:

  • Place the blanket with its mother’s scent in the area they are sleeping.

  • Some put a crate or pack-n-play by their bed, so they can pet if needed.

  • Make the crate/area extra comfortable with a soft blanket or toy.

Preparing for the First Night:

This will be the first time your new family member is away from its mother and littermates and can be overwhelming for a little puppy.  It is important to be patient and give lots of love.  Having a blanket with the mother’s scent helps in the transition & making the area it sleeps in as comfortable as possible.  Having your schedule cleared that first day will allow you to play and help the puppy adjust and not feel alone.
